Is December 27, 2021 a holiday? in US and UK?

Christmas Day has passed but the holidays are still ongoing. Is December 27, 2021, a Federal holiday in the UK and US?

December 27, 2021:

It’s time for the whole world to take a step back and relax as we bid goodbye to the year 2021. While people across the United States and the United Kingdom are enjoying the winter holidays, some are wondering if they might have to return to work on the Monday after the holiday weekend.

Is Monday, December 27, a holiday in the UK?

December 27 is not a Federal Holiday in the US but a regional one. Hence, only specific regions of the country will have an off day.

As per the US government’s official website, if a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday is treated as a holiday for pay and leave purposes. On the other hand, if it falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be treated as a holiday.

Hence, given that Christmas Day 2021 was on Saturday, Friday (December 24) was a federal holiday.

Is Monday, December 27, a holiday in the UK?

Both December 27 and 28 are off days/bank holidays in the UK, as stated by the government’s official website.

Given that Christmas and Boxing Day this year fell on a weekend (Saturday and Sunday), the bank holidays given on these two days have been pushed to Monday (December 27) and Tuesday (December 28).
